Must-Ask Questions Before The Eyelash Extension Appointment

One of the great perks of being a lash technician is building a genuine bond between your loyal clients. Months to years on end, your regular customers visit your beauty salon to get their gorgeous lashes done. But before any client becomes a regular, they are first be a newcomer stepping into the lash extension world. That is why it's so important for you, as a professional lash technician, to get to know your clients before their appointment. So, here are the must-ask questions before the very first lash extension set:

Allergies & Irritants

As it is impossible to imagine the lash appointment without using strong adhesives for long retention, the first question you should ask your new clients is if they are allergic to any substances. Many are very sensitive to numerous chemicals and compounds found in the beauty market. Being exposed to such chemicals can often lead to irritation, redness and even breakouts around the eye area. By showing caution and asking your clients about their allergies, you will demonstrate great expertise.

Lash Styles

Next, let’s talk about the exciting lash looks you can create with the help of eyelash extensions. When new clients walk into beauty salons, lash technicians should get a sense of what kind of lash styles they are looking for. From simple – an open eye style, which perfectly complements almost all eye shapes to a glamorous doll eye lash style, the possibilities are endless! But while many lash pros love to create dramatic looks, it’s paramount to meet the client’s expectations and personal preferences.

Aftercare Routine

As lash extensions are made of very delicate fibers and attached with the help of strong glue, knowing how to take care of lashes is a big must. As soon as your new clients get their brand new lash sets, their aftercare routines begin. Before you sit down and get started, make sure you ask your new clients if they know about the proper aftercare tips and tricks. This usually means advising them to avoid water for the first 24 hours and having a daily cleansing routine set in place.

Special Requests

And last but not least, don’t forget to ask your new clients if they have any specific requests. Whether they want multi-colored lashes or a certain kind of music playing during their appointment, you should create a very welcoming environment for those who are new to the lash world. Not only will your professionalism shine, but you will get to develop a trusting relationship with new clients!
